Day 31: Having Fun! Don’t tell anyone…

I survived my assessment! Also, as I’d done our other instructor’s changes over the weekend for the Friday project, I was a bit ahead of the curve for this morning. I was studying for the assessment anyway, so it wasn’t a huge stretch to also incorporate corrections I wouldn’t have to make Monday. Despite this, there were a few more fixes we needed to make and this week we’re going to enlarge upon our sites—adding, deleting, and editing people/courses in the JSON file. I’ve already managed to add a new course to the file. I’m now trying to figure out a way to edit. I can’t decide if I want to dynamically create the form, or figure out a way to do a longer query string…I really can’t believe people are paying us to have this much fun.

I’m also pondering the capstone. We’re going to be doing something with teams, similar to what we’re doing now with the courses site. While most people would have a frame of reference for this in their everyday lives, I really don’t. I’m not involved in a single, solitary thing outside work that even remotely resembles a team. I need to think up something, as I’d like to start collecting illustrations/pictures to at least attempt to make my site look nice. The ONLY thing I can think of for a “team” site that might be fun to do is a fictitious knitting/crocheting challenge to form teams to create charity items, like perhaps Warm up America squares, or blankets for Project Linus.

Again, I marvel at being allowed to have this much fun at work!
